Hygiene Notes

Our office feels that your best protection against cavities and gum disease is the conscientious use of a soft toothbrush and floss. Proper oral hygiene combined with routine professional care is very important. Toothpaste approved by the ADA is recommended.

Fluoride is beneficial for your teeth in several ways. It helps to strengthen teeth while they are developing. The primary source of fluoride is in our water supply. Fluoride supplements can be prescribed if water is not fluoridated. Bottled spring water is now available with fluoride. We recommend a topical fluoride treatment as part of the regular hygiene visit every 6 months for children under the age of 18.
